Pryde Nina

Pryde Nina, born in Hong Kong in 1945. Pryde began studying ceramics, sculpture, Chinese painting and calligraphy, as well as Western painting since the 1980s. She obtained an Advanced Diploma in Fine Arts from the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2003; graduated from a Certificate Course in Modern Ink Painting at the Hong Kong Chingying Institute of Visual Arts in 2005; completed the Master of Arts Programmed in Fine Arts co-organized by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University and Hong Kong Arts Centre’s Hong Kong Art School in 2007, and received an Outstanding Student Award with her graduation work Sound of Silence. Another work by Pryde, titled Jiuzhaigou Valley, made it into the finals in the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial 2009. Pryde has served as an instructor for ink art courses run by the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre in 2013 and 2015-2016. She has also served as a final’s adjudicator for the Hong Kong Student Talent Competition between 2012 and 2015. In 2017, her work Dancing in the Dark won her a Silver Award in the Open Category of UOB Art in Ink Award. Pryde has held a total of 11 solo shows since 2001. Apart from Hong Kong, her works have been widely exhibited in many places around the world, some of which are collected by the University Museum and Art Gallery of the University of Hong Kong, some prominent local institutions as well as private collectors, both at home and abroad. Pryde has chaired the Hong Kong Modern Ink Painting Society and is now its Honorary President; she is also a member of the Chinese Ink Painting Institute Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Artists Association.
