Chan Wai Was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu.  He graduated from Suzhou Institute of Arts and Crafts, major in painting. He graduated from the undergraduate class of landscape painting in the Chinese painting department of the China Academy of Fine Arts and graduated from the master's degree of landscape painting in the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China.  Chan is the member of Chinese Ink Painting Institute Hong Kong, director of Hong Kong Art Association, Dean of Longyitang Chinese Painting Academy.

Some works have won various awards, and some works are collected by domestic government agencies, Chinese and Hong Kong cultural organizations and private collections.
