Zhao born in 1966 in Inner Mongolia, graduated from the fine arts department of Inner Mongolia Normal University in 1988. 2007-2009 China National Academy of painting landscape painting advanced training class. 

From 2011 to 2012, Zhao worked as a visiting scholar in school of fine arts in Tsinghua University, and conducted a one-year research on painting and modern ink painting.

He is currently a member of the Chinese Artists Association, chairman of the China International Ink Painting Association, vice-chairman of the Hong Kong Artists Association, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the Hong Kong Culture and Art Exchange Association, member of the Chinese Ink Painting Institute Hong Kong, Vice President of Hong Kong Water Color Painting Association, deputy secretary general of China Friendship Painting Academy, Shenzhen Academy of Painting and Shenzhen CPPCC Academy of Painting and Calligraphy. Invited researcher of Chinese Institute of Arts and Technology, ministry of culture.
